How to Make your own dog necklace

I decided after googleing myself. There are no posts or instructions on how to make your own dog necklace. If their are it is usually using very expensive items. You do not have to go expensive at all. Its best not to considering your dog may very well just chew or lick it, or in some cases hide it. Unforunately mine haven't done that and like the necklaces to a point. I bought a few from others, but nothing is better than your own handmade item.





Things you will need:


Stretch Magic Beading cord size .5mm or 1mm


2 diffrent sizes of colorful beads


Scissors


Lobster clamp or Toggel- depends on what you like best


Yard stick or ruler





To start off Measure your dogs neck. Take a strip of paper and put it around your dogs neck. Mark where their neck size with a dash. Take a ruler and measure where the dash stops. This will be your dogs neck size. Now add 2" to what ever size your dogs neck is. If your dogs size is over 12" use a yard stick, but remember to always add 2" to the size. We want your dog to beleve its just another collar.





Once that is done get your stretch magic beading cord and your lobster claw or toggle and tie the beading cord to the lobster claw. Make sure to pull over and over to make sure the cord does not come loose from the claw or toggle.



Once that is down take the beads and string them to your likeing. Make sure to always match colors and make the pattern unique. No necklace is special with out a charm ether. Once you get to the middle of your necklace. Place the charm on the necklace. When selecting charms do not get a very large charm. Charm should be small but not have a sharp end. The sharp end could hurt your dog if he or she runs and falls or worse. The best charms to buy are the ones that are used for children jewelry. They are child proof so are very much save for dogs as well, But again make sure the charm is not bigger than a table spoon. If so that is way!!! to big. Always go for something small and cute. Remember be unique.



Once that is done string the rest of your beads on. Then tie the other end of your closure on to your string of beads. Lobster claws would use little loops. To me that is very hard to tie on, but it can be done. Be sure to tie it so it will not pop aloose. Test it!! Pull one end of the string and pull the other end. If it comes loose tie it again more than one time. The more knots the more it will not come loose. Some people have said they burn it to make sure it doesn't come loose, but that isn't my method.



Once that is done be sure to test again. Test over and over. You do not want your necklace breaking and your dog eating it. Once you are sure your necklace will not come apart. Put it on your dogs neck. Be sure to watch it on your dogs neck. If you see one sign of it falling apart you must act fast to grab the beads. If it doesn't come apart and your dog doesn't even know its their then you have just created your first dog necklace. Once you created one you will want to create more and more. Who knows you could end up selling them on some site.

Made my first pair of ear rings today. Found it hard in a way. I dont think the design is as I want it but I will keep playing around with it. Who knows May make some great dog themed ear rings

Marketing

ugh Marketing and getting your stuff known is so hard. Everyday I List more items. I find forums to put my stuff out there. Even started this blog but I guess rome wasn't built in 2 months. Everyone seems to think I have great ideas. Just these ideas arn't becomeing known. I have a awsome idea of letting other people who sell products sell on my website. Only problem is people are very snooty and probley won't want to do it. Today I was on one forum. Guy gave me great advice for my website. I rely and try to market so much on etsy I forget about my main website. So redid it a lot today. Looks great. I just have no clue why everything I fix people have a problem with. I fix what every they do not like and bam theres another problem. I dont think everyones site is ever perfect. Oh well. I continuse to keep trying on etsy. More and more the people there are discourageing me. So hard to get people to buy your stuff. Have 90 views. 90 VIEWS!! are you kidding me and not one of them wanted to buy it. Soooo whats keeping people from buying. I ask in etsy and most say pictures........... WHAT THE HECK DOES PICTURES HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING. sure you use pictures to show your items. Let the customer see what he is buying or sizing. But as long as they SEE the picture what the heck is the problem. Is it really that deep to have the greatest pictures in etsy? Really I dont think that should be stopping people from buying. I even seen this strange guy selling animal parts statues and road kill statues which I thought was discusting. But ok yah. Well Guess ill keep trying to get a sell on etsy. God I surely get more sells selling at the flea market but I want to be a professional so TRY NUMBER 52893

My New Toys

Mom finnally got me a necklace stand. Iam so happy about it. Makes my pictures look better but pictures still need some work. It inspired me to make 2 more necklaces just to have a excuse to use it. I also got some back grounds. I figured why buy cloth back ground. Looks so tacky. So I made my own. I got some paper I wanted from the store. then glued it to some card board. Made it seem as tho it was the wall. Lol I want to go back to the craft store to get more, but until I make another sell. No more toys for me. Even tho I did order a few ring stands to display my bows on. BUT NO MORE TOYS

Bugs on my back porch

As I was walking out side on my porch. I stopped and saw a flying creature. I paid no mind to it. Even if I didnt like bugs I just ignored it. It kept flying at me over and over again. I kept hitting at it. I stopped and realized what it was. A HUGE WASP!! I quickly turned to go in the house before it stung me when I stopped and looked up. There in the corner of the door was a Huge wasp nest. Not only was there 1 but 2!!! OH god I ran as fast as I could in the house before taking a quick picture. Like my family says "always take pictures". The more I stared at it the more it made my flesh crawl. So to who ever reads this. Dont try to itch too much.

I got a new camera today. Decided to try it out. Kept trying and trying to get better pictures. Not one picture came our right exept one.
Hopefully After a few practices and doing what everyone says and make a light box will help.
Too bad my light box will have a yellow light bulb. LOL I suck at doing a camera so everyday I will post Improvements of pictures i did. Hopefully I can become as good as most etsy people. or at least the ones that arnt as mean. Lol

Everyday is like a huge pain for me. I love making dog necklaces and bows but the more i make them the less people buy them it seems. I gotten a few more sales today but someone ordered burberry pattern ribbon...............I have no clue what burberry is so i looked it up. I hope i can find that ribbon for him or her. But to top it of they are only buying 1 ribbon and they want a black rhinestone........OMG where the heck am i going to get a black rhinestone in just a few days. Black?! Sure hope I can find some in the local craft store. If she is looking for black rhinestones she may have to look for her price for the bow to be 3.50. 1.50 is mostly for bows with just cute little orniments or things. Not for high priced rhinestones!! oh god. Oh well a customer gets what she wants. She is willing to pay higher for the bow. So hopefully i can find that black rhinestone for her.

Another day in the libary 2

Sigh heres another day In the libary. Today has beena slow but unfortunate day. Theres been a serious os crazy but funny events.

Some guy is sitting in front of me. He says do you have gum or candy. Um no. Five mins later he starts crunching on something. Iam very anoyed when it comes to crunching sounds sence my mother eats ice like its water. He starts crunching and crunching. Then after that is down he leans down and gets gum and chews it like a cow is chewing grass. What the heck?! I was 5 seconds from saying something when before I said it I looked at what he is reading. Constitutional law................. Then I looked around some more. The way he talked reminded you of some lawyer. He starts telling me he is a lawyer who is currently working on a case......I then slowly went back to my computer and ignored him. IAM NOT ABOUT TO BE SUED FOR ASKING HIM TO STOP SMACKING GUM. But then he sees me typeing and asks how am I typeing as if iam talking. I answer i dont know it comes natural to type fast. He writes down a address and tells me I should consider a job as a police data recorder. OMG heavens sent. Maybe Just Maybe this guy can really get me this job. I hope so cuz if i can get this job I surely can get more and better items to make my bows and necklaces.

People Not Liking Dog Necklaces

I started making dog necklace after I saw a few pictures of people and there dogs with a pink necklace on. Every sence then I been making my own. A few people gave me ideas of what to use and what not to use or what direction to take. When I first made my shop a few people didnt even want me to make any necklace because they thought dogs didnt need them or want them. A dog is a mans best friend. Iam sure if a dog could talk they would say he would want the same things you have. If the dog could he would eat your food. So why cant a dog have a necklace? Dogs have collars which you can find at the store with different items on it. Dogs walk, Dogs breath? so what is so different about them to make a person think they cant have a necklace. I can understand maybe dog clothes since my dog hates clothes but a necklace? which he probley wont even feel under his neck most of the time. Some people Just love making others Items worse than your own. Do they ever stop to think "May be i shouldn't say that"? Some one i saw even said a dog brain isn't like ours and will eat the necklace...........What dog eats a necklace? that's got to be one slow dog seriously. Dogs are not as stupid as people make them out to be. When you are eating they make faces at you to the point where you give them food. They can go out side if trained by the right person to use the bathroom. Some I even heard can use toilets. Some dogs even lead people. Those people they lead cant even see and they open the fridge and give them some drink or lead them across the street. Now tell me again why are we debating this? Because Some people just do not know what to say to others. Which is very frustrating when you are trying to get at least 1 sell.

Another day at the libary

Its another day at the libary. I come to the libary every single day of the week if I can to find ways to promote my bows and dog necklaces. I usually try to find diffrent ways to make them. There are so many crazy people you can find in the libary. A few mins ago I just saw a old war veteran man. At first he didn't pay me any attention then he walked up and saw I was reading a book on Shih-tzus. He asked me "Is your shih-tzu vicuous"? I said what no I never head of a vicuous shih-tzu. He said " Oh yah mine bites you for no reason". Then his wife turned around with a look on her face as tho he was the most anoying object in the face of the planet. She yelled "Ofc she was mean, you and the kids used to chase her and scared her to death". He defended his self and said "I was just making a puppy in to a real dog". Few mins later he walked off and sat in his chair. His wife was reading a newspaper. He yelled " WHAT ARE YOU READING?!"
she stares at him and looks back down at her newspaper. It became quiet. He then told her he was ready to go. They got up and he walked back up to me and said "dont trust chinese or russian people". I then said yah mmhm not sure what else to say, but after watching him walk away he turned back around and said during the war he got a lawyer to tell the army his leg was broken and he was excused for even going in to any other war. It was very funny at the time because he was so serious but now that I think about it. That guy was a fruit cake.
